# Installation

As the CC4D Tools are just a collection of a few scripts and two .c4d files  there a few ways to 'install' them. For **Cinema 4D R25** and higher the quickest way is to copy the scripts to the *user preferences scripts* folder and use the *'Import Assets'* function of the *Asset Browser and* for **Cinema 4D R21 - R24** it can be installed through the legacy *Content Browser.*

* Download the provided ZIP file and extract it
* In **Cinema 4D** open the *Preferences Window* by clicking **Edit > Preferences**
* Open the user preferences folder by clicking the **Open Preferences Folder** button at the bottom of the *Preferences Window*

* Inside the **preferences** folder go into the **library > scripts** folder
* copy the **CC4D\_Tools** folder located inside the **scripts** folder of the extracted ZIP contents into the user preferences **library > scripts** folder&#x20;

* restart Cinema 4D
* Open up the **Asset Browser** and click **Create > Import Assets**

* Choose the **CC4D\_tools.zip** located inside the **assetBrowser** Folder of the extracted archive contents and click Open
* Choose the database you want to import it into and click OK

* This will create a **CC4D\_tools** category wich holds the **CC4D\_CTRL-RIG** and the \
  **CC4D\_FACE-RIG** as well as four subcategories for the Visual Selector background images, the Character Definition presets, the material templates and the tools palette

* Double click the palette to open it up and dock it somewhere into the layout

* restart Cinema 4D
* Inside the Content Browser you will now find a **CC4D\_Tools** preset library wich holds the **CC4D\_CTRL-RIG** and the **CC4D\_FACE-RIG** as well as two subfolders for the tools palette and the visual selector background images

* To add the **CC4D\_CTRL-RIG** or the **CC4D\_FACE-RIG** to a scene go to \
  **Object Manager > File > Load Object Presets > CC4D\_Tools**
* The Scripts can also be found under **Extensions > User Scripts > CC4D\_Tools**
